Please join us for a free, fun, family-friendly exploration of Fall Creek's biodiversity as we participate in iNaturalist's City Nature Challenge and enjoy recreating wildlife along the banks of the waterway through paint or illustration.

The City Nature Challenge is an international effort for cities to find and document as much urban nature as possible by challenging residents to become citizen scientists. Join us as we explore and search Fall Creek for plants, insects, and animals, document our findings (take a photo), and report them via the iNaturalist website or app. The underlying objective of this effort is to develop a new baseline of a city's biodiversity and to monitor how exactly change is accelerating.

Then as we paint along the banks of Fall Creek, we will learn about T.C. Steele, an impressionist painter known for his landscape work at the end of the 1800's and early into the 1900's. Steele spent a considerable time in central Indiana painting the landscapes, including that of Fall Creek. You can see some of his work including a painting of a Mill along Fall Creek, "Old Schofield Mill", at the Indiana Art Museum.
