Class four of a four class series intended to build upon skills learned.

Week 4 - Putting It All Together

Goal: Combine skills into a finished artwork.

• Planning a composition: thumbnail sketches & choosing a subject

• Combining drawing + painting techniques

• Adding finishing touches: detail vs. looseness

• Guided final project: still life, landscape, or abstract (student choice)

• Group critique & discussion of personal style

By the end, students will:

• Understand line, shape, value, perspective, and color basics

• Feel confident using pencils and paint

• Have a sketchbook of exercises and a completed final artwork

• Build a foundation for any future art classes
