Architecture as a social act :Community, Conservation and Participation

Takeshi Hayatsu and Francesca Rausa are two practitioners whose work is led by a desire to empower communities and create a more joyful world.

Both of their approaches are material-first, using sometimes reclaimed, mostly locally sourced and always carefully considered components that often feature in self-build and live projects.

TT09 will explore how participatory and collaborative design can help to define local identities, build economic resilience and empower communities to make the most of what already exists.

Supported by the RIBA.
