Public Works Institute

Meeting the rigid standards of APWA's Public Works Institute's Task Force, the Southern California Chapter has implemented a four module, 90-hour program to prepare public works employees for career advancement in management and/or operations. Participants will learn supervisory and management skills, and will learn how to apply them to real world public works applications. Participants work towards a certificate that will make a difference in their career.

Modules 1,2, and 3 are not a pre-requisite for Module 4. You can start with Module 4 and continue with Modules 1, 2 & 3 as they are offered.

Registration: 

As a part of the registration we will be collecting:

• each person's member ID # (for member price) If you don't know your APWA Member ID# you can call 1-800-848-APWA (2792).
• work email address
• work phone number
• any previously completed modules attended
• whether or not you will be graduating at the end of this module (meaning you have already completed Modules 1, 2 & 3)

Please get this information from each participant prior to moving forward with registration. Class size is limited to encourage participants to interact with speakers and to share ideas on what participants see in their own agency or company. Also there is a high demand for this program, therefore we are limiting each agency to a maximum of 5 participants. If you need to send more than 5 due to returning students or someone needs a module to graduate, please email the committee at socalapwaeducation@gmail.com to explain why and we will give you further instructions on how to register. 

PRIORITY REGISTRATION FOR RETURNING STUDENTS: The registration will be open to returning students first. Please don't sign up people who have not attended any previous modules until the registration is opened up to new students.
