Overview

We are offering a FREE 2 hour in-person introductory training session on an approach to learning called Appreciative Inquiry.

This training is ideal for anyone who wants to learn about how to apply an effective approach to inquiry to help make improvements to the ways you work.

Training providers: Helen Sharp and Joe McMartin from the Ideas Alliance CiC (Ideas Alliance | Social Consultancy | Community Engagement), who say:

Appreciative inquiry is becoming a popular way to approach many aspects of work, from gathering insight to designing services; it is the opposite to problem solving and brings joy and energy into a conversation where before, there has been scarcity. Tired of the 'yes buts' and wanting to find out how you can re-invigorate your work and practice? Then come and join Helen and Joe and discover more about appreciative inquiry and dream…

Learning outcomes:

Participants will: Learn the basics of appreciative inquiry, develop practical skills in appreciative inquiry, strengthen relationships and increase the possibilities for collaboration

Session principles: Connect as people not as job titles, Stay open and curious, Encourage one other, Have a go and enjoy!

This opportunity is funded by the new Health Determinants Research Collaboration Portsmouth, a new collaboration between Hive Portsmouth, the University of Portsmouth and Portsmouth City Council that aims to support learning, alongside our communities, about health inequalities and how to provide effective support that improves lives.

There are 125 places in total, and we are offering the opportunity to people working in/with the Voluntary and Community Sector, Portsmouth City Council, and the University of Portsmouth (academics who are working with Portsmouth communities).
