Klasey Consulting is partnering with Lincoln Families to bring this training Applying Harm Reduction with Transitional Age Youth Engaged in Risky Behaviors to Alameda, Solano, Mendocino, Lake, Contra Costa, Humboldt, Tuolumne and Calaveras providers. Harm reduction principles have been used in various disciplines, most notably within the substance use field. These principles can be particularly helpful when an individual isn't ready to quit engaging in a risky behavior. This training will provide an overview of harm reduction principles and how apply them with system-involved youth and young adults engaged in risky behaviors such as running away, substance use, etc.
Learning Objectives

* Participants will be able to define harm reduction

* Participants will be able to identify one harm reduction strategy to teach individuals using substances

* Participants will be able to identify one harm reduction strategy to teach individuals who run away

Please note that in order to register for these FREE trainings your organization must directly work with foster, adoptive or probation involved children, youth and their families in Alameda, Solano, Mendocino, Lake, Contra Costa, Humboldt, Tuolumne and Calaveras only. Caregivers, including resource families, who serve youth in the above-mentioned counties are also eligible. Participants outside of these areas aren't eligible and will not receive the zoom link.

Dr. Kwonta Phatiphong is a registered psychological associate with 6 years of counseling experience in clinical and social service settings. She has experience in working with clients struggling with trauma and crisis, substance abuse, learning disabilities, homelessness, and low and high functioning client populations. She is trained in substance abuse, Seeking Safety, TF-CBT, Motivational Interview, Crisis Prevention Intervention, Trauma Resiliency Model, and psychological assessments.
