What are the hours and days of Camp MEE at the Rainbow Room 2025?

Campers must be dropped off daily between 8-8:30am. Camp runs from 8-5pm. Campers must be picked up between 4:30-5pm daily. Camp runs each day from Monday August 4-Friday August 9, 2025. There is no before or after care available outside of 8-5pm camp times.

Do you require background check your staff/volunteers?

Yes, all staff and volunteers are vetted through an application process and a comprehensive background check including child abuse, state criminal background and FBI background clearances.

How are your staff/volunteers trained?

Camp MEE at the Rainbow Room is staffed by Planned Parenthood Keystone. Our educators are fully trained, credentialed professionals. All volunteers go through training that covers how to work with youth ages 10-14, DEI, conflict resolution, safety, security, experiential learning and more.

What is your adult to camper ratio?

Camp MEE at the Rainbow Room is in compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Health registered day camp guidelines and follows, at minimum, the 1:15 adult to youth ratio guidelines. Our ratio is closer to 1:8 adult to youth.

Question 5

How is the food? What about food allergies?

Food (lunch/snacks) will be donated & purchased from reputable & popular area restaurants & grocery stores. Parents/guardians can indicate on the application if campers have food allergies & arrangements will be made to accommodate them. We will also indicate on the campers badge any food allergies.

How do you handle medications?

Parents/guardians can indicate on the application if their camper needs medication during camp time. Medication can be dropped off/picked up during check in and check out each day of camp.

How do you support gender-expansive youth?

Camp MEE at the RR  is an inclusive and affirming space for gender expansive youth.  All staff, volunteers and campers will include their pronouns on their name tags. Volunteers & staff are trained on how to properly use pronouns & respect gender expansive youth. It's a core part of who we are!

What is the cost?

Thanks to generous donations and grants from local foundations and donors, Camp MEE at the Rainbow Room in 2025 is free of charge. We do ask for a $25 payment to secure a spot; this will be refunded when the camper attends camp, and can be donated if preferred.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please reach out to Rainbow Room staff at rainbowroom@ppkeystone.org if you must cancel your registration. Please do so as soon as possible, so we can fill the spot with another camper.

What happens after I register?

Once you have completed registration you will receive a confirmation email along with payment information. This will include the dates, times, location, and other important camp information. You will also receive a short list of things to expect from Camp MEE at the Rainbow Room.

What kind of safety protocols will be in place?

Campers will check in each morning & will only be allowed to leave if accompanied by an approved adult. Camp staff will be on-site at all times & campers will not be left unattended. The outdoor spaces will be monitored by staff. Safety guidelines will be followed in the event of extreme weather.

What are your COVID policies?

Universal masking is currently not a requirement. Masks are available. PPKey staff will follow the direction of Planned Parenthood Keystone's Associate Medical Director regarding symptom screenings and required testing. For more information, please inquire at parent night.

How is the day scheduled?

Camp will begin each day with announcements and a movement or creative activity. Throughout the week campers will learn from PPKey staff and guest speakers. Camp will end each day with closing announcements. Lunch will be each day at 12pm, frequent breaks will be implemented.

Are lunch and/or snacks provided?

Yes! Lunch will be provided each day and snacks/water will be available for campers throughout each day. Campers are also welcome to pack their own lunch. A fridge is available.

May parents/guardians watch the classes?

Accepted Answer

No, because of our rigorous safety and security policies, we cannot allow parents or guardians to attend camp classes.

What should my camper wear?

Campers should come dressed in comfortable clothes and shoes that they can move around in and won’t mind potentially getting dirty. There will be arts and crafts and outdoor time during certain camp days. We do recommend bringing a long-sleeved shirt or hoodie as it sometimes gets cold inside.

What do I need to send with my camper?

Campers should come each day with: any needed medications, a packed lunch (if they do not want to eat camp lunch), sunscreen if the camper requires a special kind (generic sunscreen will be provided), their Camp MEE at the Rainbow Room lanyard (can leave on site too), and a water bottle.

Will my camper receive a camp t-shirt?

Yes! Each camper will receive a Camp MEE at the Rainbow Room t-shirt.

Question 19

What if my camper does not want to participate in an activity?

Accepted Answer

We will encourage all campers to get outside of their comfort zone, experience new activities and learn new things. However, if a camper does not feel comfortable participating or needs to take a break, we will have a designated area for them supervised by volunteers/staff.

May I phone to check in on my camper?

If there is a situation where a camper needs to be contacted, guardians may call the phone number listed in the camp information sheet. Due to the business of camp staff, we encourage these calls to be made only if necessary.

Question 21

Can my camper bring their cell phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes! However, we will ask campers to put their phones away during sessions and activities.
