Appalachian Trail Talk with Elise Hedglen

Elise is a retired USAF Lt. Colonel. She has been hiking for 40+ years. She has completed the 48 NH 4000-footers and the 67 NE 4K-footers, the NH Winter 48 4K-footers, and section hiked the Appalachian Trail, finishing in 2022.

Elise has hiked throughout the U.S. and Europe, including Grand Canyon, Glacier, Yosemite, Yellowstone, Bryce, Zion, and Rocky Mountain NPs, Hawaii, England, Scotland, Switzerland, Germany, Iceland and the Azores.

She leads hiking & ski trips for the Appalachian Mountain Club, and is a graduate of AMC's Mountain Leadership School. Elise is also an accomplished marathoner, finishing 16 marathons, including Boston, and New York City, Disney, Big Sur and Marine Corps. She also enjoys triathlons, cycling, swimming, skiing, yoga and traveling. Elise is a mother of four, grandmother of two, and lives in Wakefield with her husband Ken.
