About this event

The parking lot is located at 655/657 South Mountain Road in Gardiner. Although North Mountain Rd connects with Route 44/55, we ask that all visitors take Bruynswick Rd. to Shaft Rd in order to minimize road noise in this residential area. From the intersection of Shaft and North/South Mountain Rd., drive straight into the driveway.

Google maps does not always take people to this address when it is entered so be sure your route follows the above directions.

Note this is a temporary parking solution located in the driveway of a homeowner. Please drive all the way to the back by the red house and park where he has indicated.

All climbers must complete a waiver before climbing at the Antlion crag. The waiver can be completed electronically while applying for a parking reservation. The waiver must be completed every calendar year, regardless of previous waiver completion date. If you have not yet filled out a waiver you can fill one out here.

A reservation is required to use the parking area. In order to make a reservation all climbers must agree to the following rules. Please read these and acknowledge your agreement during checkout.

1. Only six cars are permitted at a time in the parking lot.

2. No parking is permitted along roadside.

3. Respect all no trespassing signs.

4. Stay on designated trails.

5. Climbers should abide by standard Leave No Trace practices:

a) Climbers should clean up after themselves and pack out all trash and garbage;

b) Packing out human and pet waste is encouraged, especially in areas with moderate to high levels of use, and where appropriate means of disposal (e.g., catholes, privies) are not available or appropriate.

6. Climbing is open from sunrise to sunset.

7. There is no camping or overnight parking. Climbers are expected to leave at the end of the climbing day.

8. No fires.

9. Be mindful of noise level so as not to disturb other visitors and wildlife.

10. No radios or other music players.

11. Be aware of potential seasonal cliff closures due to natural resource concerns, such as nesting peregrine falcons.

12. Climbing on heavily vegetated cliff faces is prohibited.

13. Removal of vegetation from the base of climbs, belay ledges, cliff faces, or bouldering areas is prohibited unless approved by the GCC.

14. The removal of rock from its natural position will be allowed only when the rock to be removed poses a significant risk to the climbing party or a future climbing party.

15. Using trees for natural anchors is discouraged. If using trees as natural anchors, care should be taken to prevent damage to the tree.

16. Chipping, gluing, or attaching artificial holds is prohibited.

17. Caching of climbing equipment at or near the base of a climb is not allowed. Please bring your gear down with you at the end of the day.

18. No "topping out." In order to remain on GCC property, topping out is strictly prohibited. Access onto Minnewaska park property is restricted and your climbing privileges at the GCC property will be revoked if you are caught on Minnewaska land.

We are temporarily parking on the property of one of our neighbors. Please be respectful of the people living on the premises. The landowner asks that you keep your noise level down, (especially in the early hours), and be respectful of the residents. The house is not available for use either for filling of water bottles or bathroom use. Parking lot hours are from 7am to an hour after sunset. No pets are allowed while we are parking at this address.

Failure to comply with these rules will result in the loss of land use privilege.

* Note- The climbing routes found at the Antlion crag are maintained by volunteers. Climbing is inherently dangerous, and it is ultimately the responsibility of each individual climber to inspect all fixed hardware for soundness before using.

It is asked that any fixed anchors in need of maintenance or replacement be reported to the GCC.

In Case of Emergency

Be sure at least one member of your party has a fully charged phone. Call 911 and tell them you are at the Antlion Cliff in Gardiner NY. They will know what to do from there. Expect a 45 minute to one hour wait as the rescuers will be taking the same approach hike you did to get there. Basic knowledge of first aid is encouraged, as well as carrying a first aid kit in your party.

By continuing to a reservation I agree to the above rules.
