Join us for the private VIP reception our 33rd Annual Signature exhibit "Another Slice of Sweet Potato Pie" featuring the works of Russell A. Murray, and an artist talk featuring ATA curator Onnie Strother.
This exhibit brings African American and Afro-Latino artists from across the country, showcasing works in various styles and genres including still life, portraiture, landscapes, fiber, abstract expressionism, and non-objective art that reflects the landscape of African American life and culture.
"Named after ATA’s historic 1995 "Cultural Images: Sweet Potato Pie", an exhibit curated by Murray, "Another Slice of Potato Pie" conjures themes of tradition, memory, family, and artistry, providing delight for both the spirit and the senses, " states Onnie Strother.

About our Featured Artist:
Russell Murray's motto was “Paint or Perish.” Russell had a way with words, ideas, and images. His work is graceful, witty, intelligent, and fun with a serious edge. Well-known in the Art community, Murray’s artwork is part of many private collections, museums, and universities. His contributions to the Black community were significant. Murray was one of the founders of the Newark Arts Council and served on the boards of the Newark Museum, National Conference of Artists, the Minority Arts Assembly as well as the Salvation Army.
