Annual Walk to Bethlehem Returns to Basking Ridge
Overview
Experience the journey of the first Christmas through this beloved Basking Ridge tradition spanning more than three decades. This walking pageant begins at 4:00 PM at St. James Roman Catholic Church and travels to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Bishop Janes United Methodist Church, and concludes at the Presbyterian Church of Basking Ridge.
Costumed volunteers portraying Mary, Joseph (with a live donkey), angels, shepherds, and wise men lead participants through the streets while stopping at each church for carols, choir performances, and Gospel readings recounting the Christmas story. This free ecumenical event draws more than 200 community members of all ages and typically lasts approximately 90 minutes. All are welcome to join this meaningful celebration that blends pageantry, music, and religious tradition to recapture the true meaning of Christmas.
