Portraits on Polaroid: Exploring Traditional and Creative Lighting Techniques

Step into the vibrant world of instant film portraiture with this creative demonstration highlighting Polaroid cameras, like the Polaroid i2 and the new Polaroid Flip.

Led by portrait photographer Kate Hailey, this 90-minute session is designed to help you explore both foundational techniques and imaginative approaches to create portraits or self-portraits.

Attendees will learn how to:

  • Use a handheld light meter to dial in proper exposure
  • Try out both constant and flash/studio lighting
  • Create classic lighting styles like Rembrandt and Clamshell
  • Experiment with color and slower shutter speeds for artistic effects

Whether you’re aiming for a traditional studio portrait or something more experimental, this session will provide you with tools to work confidently and creatively.
