Analog Roots, Digital Kids
Overview
Welcome Xennials* and Millennials! Raised on mixtapes and dial-up, now raising kids on Minecraft and TikTok. What if we could pause, compare notes, and figure out what unique gifts we bring to this parenting moment? Join us on Sunday January 11, 2025 at 4:00 - 5:30 PM ET for a fun and interactive online event.
Order a pizza, set your kids up with an movie day treat (go technology), grab some snuggly clothes and wine or tea and log in for a Sunday afternoon hang with fellow parents looking to chat about technolgy and parenting.
This one-time, interactive workshop is a chance to laugh, vent, think and connect with other parents who are also out there, looking to find the right balance. Together we’ll reflect on our own tech histories, talk honestly about today’s screen-time struggles, and share ideas for staying grounded in our values while helping our kids grow.
What to Expect (90 minutes):
- Check-In: where you’re at with screen time (humor welcome!)
- Looking Back: our analog roots (gamified look at our analog roots)
- Today’s Challenges: what’s hard right now (small group breakout rooms)
- Fresh Takes: new perspectives and small strategies (journal/solo reflection)
- Analog Roots, Tech Branches: what are we taking from this (group reflection)
Led by experienced health and sex educator, Paula (Pixel) Kadanoff. You’ll leave with perspective, connection, and the option to continue in a multi-session workshop for deeper exploration.
Participation Guidelines: All participants should be able to be actively involved during this session in the various aspects. You can toggle between camera on and off as needed, with a preference for having cameras on when possible to enhance our connections. You're welcome to be multitasking while tuning in (folding laundry, cooking, exercising)
** Xennial = the micro-generation born roughly between 1977–1983, straddling Gen X and millennials.
