Delivered in something of a Chautauqua style, this play follows the life of Joseph Newman of Baltimore, MD, and later Columbia, SC as he tells his life story of piano making in Baltimore, his love of God and the South, and his struggles with the institution of slavery then in effect.

This multimedia production makes use of video narration for key events in Newman’s life and includes voice overs and period music. Tom Strange, who bears a passing resemblance to the actual Newman, plays the part of Newman.
