Overview

*This event is free and open to the public

Milwaukee community advocate and professional basketball player Mike Taylor was recently featured by writer Adam Carr for a cover story in Wisconsin People & Ideas Magazine. Taylor and Carr will continue the conversation started in the article (https://www.wisconsinacademy.org/magazine/fall-2025/feature/mike-taylor-home-milwaukee), delving deeper into Taylor’s moment. Topics will include Taylor’s multi-faceted mental health work with Milwaukee youth, as well as his vision for the next chapters of his career and hometown. A limited number of magazine(s) will be available to attendees, first-come, first-served.

A new edition of Taylor’s wordless comic book, The Indomitable Legacy of the Underworld Goat, will be fresh off the presses with complimentary copies available for participants in an upcoming study group. Additionally, photos from artist and photographer Nicole Acosta will be on display, including outtakes from Acosta’s sessions with Taylor.

The conversation will be hosted in collaboration with Near West Side Partners in the Concordia 27 building. This event was made possible by the sponsorship of Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters, Taylor~Made Foundation and Near West Side Partners.
