About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Rosa Lane's newest poetry collection Called Back is inspired by the last two words Emily Dickisnon wrote and includes poems written in queer conversation with Dickinson giving voice to the LGBTQ+ significance of one of America's greatest poets and which draws from most recent research by Dickinson scholars. Henri Cole had this to say about Called Back: "What marvelous, feral, eccentric, sweetly erotic poems [that]...illuminate--with electrifying language --the shadows of human love."

Stephen Haven's The Flight from Meaning (his 4th poetry collection and finalist for the International Beverly Prize for Literature) contains meditations on American History, on the nature of religion in our time, on racism and its legacy in the post-Civil Rights era. T. R. Hummer in praise of Stephen's work offers: "Stephen is a poet of incisive discipline deployed in the service of a passionate, humanistic ethos." Stephen, professor emeritus, directed the MFA Writing Programs at both Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio and then at Lesley University in Cambridge. Stephen and I have known each other for decades and are award winners in national and international prize programs.
