Join us for a Warm Data Lab!

‘How do we think our way through the messes we’re in when the way we think is part of the mess? – Nora Bateson

In a world of complex challenges, we need new ways of thinking and connecting. A Warm Data Lab offers a unique opportunity to explore these complexities through shared stories and diverse perspectives. Engage in a dynamic conversation, move between viewpoints, and discover insights together. In a world of complex challenges, we need new ways of thinking and connecting.

A Warm Data Lab offers a unique opportunity to explore these complexities through shared stories and diverse perspectives. Engage in a dynamic conversation, move between viewpoints, and discover insights together. This Warm Data Lab is organized in cooperation with the International Bateson Institute and Nora Bateson, originator of the Warm Data Lab theory and practice, will be our host for this evening!

No prior knowledge needed – just curiosity and a willingness to learn! Let's explore how our experiences and observations can illuminate the connections between us and the world around us.

As one participant shared:

‘I suddenly glimpsed a new way of seeing as I listened to someone else describing her sense of the complexities we all live in right now.’

Everyone is welcome.

What is a Warm Data Lab?

Warm Data Labs are like an after-dinner conversation that continues into the evening with people you may have never met. Participants share their stories and observations about a common question and move between small groups and inside conversations to explore their perspectives from other viewpoints such as family, health, economy, and others.

Warm Data Labs have been described as a “kaleidoscope of conversation,” which may be packed with enriching stories, laughter, and insight. You can follow your curiosity, hear or share stories, and explore who we can be with one another. They may seed conversations for projects to connect, renew, and revitalize our communities. No preparation is necessary. Bring your curiosity, open mind, open heart, and a friend or three!

As the Warm Data Lab follows a carefully designed process, it is helpful if you can stay from beginning to end. It is perfectly OK if you wish to remain in silence. We will be moving around the room.

Ticket pricing

We use a sliding scale to make this Warm Data Lab more accessible, while inviting those with greater financial capacity to support the community. Please choose the tier that feels most appropriate for your situation:

🌿 Supported – € 10

For those with limited financial resources. If this rate makes it possible for you to attend, please feel warmly welcome to choose it. We’re happy you’re here.

🌱 Sustainer – € 25

This is the true cost of hosting the lab. If most people choose this rate, we’ll be able to cover all event expenses. Choose this tier if it fits your current budget comfortably.

🌳 Supporter – € 40

For those with financial stability, or if your organization is paying. Choosing this option helps subsidize tickets for others who need reduced pricing. Thank you for your generosity.

🌺 Community Contributor - € 50

If you feel moved to contribute beyond the Supporter rate, this tier allows you to do so. Your extra support directly enables broader access and inclusivity. Thank you for helping this space grow.

💛 No one turned away for lack of funds

If none of these options work for you, please reach out to us - we’ll do our best to make it possible for you to attend.

“There will be no community without first communing”

— Nora Bateson

Warm Data is the relational information that describes the many parts of a system. For example, to understand a family, one must understand not only the family members but also the relationships between them, the context they reside in, the ecosystem that shapes them and that is, in turn, shaped by them –that is, the warm data. Warm Data familiarizes groups of people with the ways in which the contexts of their lives marinate and overlap into each other, and it offers an introduction to the complexity of their own lives so that they may better see the complexity of others. Through this discovery, people begin to see how vital it is to tend to their families, communities, and the land, and they are able to respond to emergencies with warmth.

At times Warm Data is also described more simply as: Information that is alive.

Is it possible to respond to the living world without information that is also alive?

These events are run by our community of Warm Data Hosts trained in the practices of Warm Data by the International Bateson Institute and Nora Bateson.
