American Mahjong Beginner Lesson

Meet up with other Mahjong beginners and learn the game! Sawyer will walk you and 7 others through American Mahjong, and start you off on your gaming journey. Sets, tiles, racks, and cards will all be provided!

American Mahjong is a unique modern game based on the traditional Chinese game of Mahjong where you have a card that shows you all the different Mahjong hands you can attempt to go for. It’s then a race to see who can complete a hand the fastest. The card that shows your possible hands changes every year and it allows repeat players to try out new strategies and gain a sense of variety.

Seating is limited to 12 guests. We will meet at Chaotic Good Cafe at 200 W 84th St on the Upper West Side of NYC. We do ask all attendees to purchase at least 1 drink during their time at Chaotic Good.
