Join Columbia GS alumni Jean Emmanuel Shein '88 and Mary Grigsby '15 for a compelling discussion about environmental, social, and corporate governance. They will discuss the real impact companies and investors are making with their sustainability initiatives in different parts of the world and how to initiate change for the future. Speaker bios:

Mary Grigsby '15GS

Most recently Mary spent 4.5 years on the investment team overseeing Trinity Church Wall Street’s $6B endowment. Prior to that she was at Gabelli & Co. in institutional equity sales. At Trinity Mary worked closely with asset managers on fund ESG diligence, shareholder engagement, impact reporting, and DEI. Building upon a nontraditional background of environmental (fishing, sailing, conservation) and social responsibility (disaster relief, foreign policy), Mary is most passionate about the nexus of social impact/sustainability and business. This led to the recent launch of Agua Azul Advisors, which provides support on impact and ESG initiatives. Mary completed her BA in Middle Eastern Studies, has obtained the Series 7 & 63 and FSA I & II. She splits her time between southern Baja, Mexico and New York City.

Jean-Emmanuel Shein '88GS

Jean first joined Fast Retailing, the parent company of UNIQLO in 1997 in Ube, Yamaguchi prefecture. Since then he has helped the international expansion of UNIQLO, opening new markets for the brand including France, the UK and the United States.

He has been a member of the Global Sustainability team for the past six years as global director with specific oversight of western markets for UNIQLO as well as supporting FR’s other brands to integrate sustainability into their businesses across the corporation’s three sustainability pillars -- Planet, People and Society. Jean graduated from Columbia University and obtained his MA from Stanford. He lives in the New York area.
