Alternative to Conservatorship

Join Kern Down Syndrome Network for our November Family Gathering on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM at New Life Church (4201 Stine Road, Bakersfield, CA 93313).

We’re honored to welcome Ana Pelayo, Assistant Clients’ Rights Advocate with Disability Rights California, for an informative discussion on Alternatives to Conservatorship.

During this session, we’ll discuss:

• What conservatorships are and how they work
• Which rights are protected or limited under conservatorship
• Alternatives that promote independence and advocacy for individuals with disabilities

This free community event is open to the public — families, caregivers, educators, and anyone seeking to learn more are welcome to attend. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

About the Speaker

Ana Pelayo is an Assistant Clients’ Rights Advocate with Disability Rights California (DRC). DRC is the state’s protection and advocacy agency, working to defend, advance, and strengthen the rights of Californians with disabilities. Ana provides direct support, advocacy, and education to individuals and families, helping them understand their rights and access the services they need.
