Allyship to Transgender & Nonbinary People (Mythbusting & Talking Points)

Over 800+ anti-trans bills have been seen across the country this year, primarily targeting transgender youth in everything from school curriculum, sports, and access to healthcare. Politicians have been running on anti-trans, anti-queer platforms to score cheap political points. However: transgender identity is not political - it has been politicized. In 2025, the trans community has been in the crosshairs in every area of life.

Each of us has the power to create change. You don’t need to be a social media influencer or celebrity; each of us influences our own circles. By learning how to respond in ways that support transgender and nonbinary people, we create change with those around us, which ripples out to their other circles and beyond.

Allyship to Transgender & Nonbinary People (Mythbusting & Talking Points) is a 2-hour workshop to arm you with talking points to engage in conversations as an ally for transgender people and trans youth.

In this session, we'll discuss:

- Current status of the 2025 legislative session
- Evidence-based & tested talking points to combat common myths & misconceptions about transgender and nonbinary people (in sports, healthcare, school content, etc)
- Q&A

There will be one short break.

THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR EVERYONE, regardless of identity or prior understanding of the topic. Information provided will help cisgender allies better engage in conversations and help transgender individuals who wish to advocate for their community or themselves.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Chris Mosier (he/him) is a trailblazing athlete, speaker, and founder of TransAthlete.com. In 2020 he made history by becoming the first transgender athlete to compete in the Olympic Trials in the gender with which they identify. Prior to that, in 2015 he became the first openly trans man to make a Men's US National Team. Following the national championship race, he was instrumental in getting the International Olympic Committee policy on transgender athletes changed. He has been called "the man who changed the Olympics" by the BBC and New York Magazine. Chris is an eight-time member of Team USA, representing the United States in the sprint triathlon and the short course and long course duathlon, a five-time Men's National Champion, and a Men's All-American.

Chris is an inductee into the National Gay and Lesbian Sports Hall of Fame. He is sponsored by Nike and has been featured in multiple global Nike campaigns. Chris prioritizes telling trans stories from trans people; he has worked on large scale campaigns highlighting the voices of the trans community and is an Executive Producer of the Emmy-Nominated documentary, “Changing the Game,” available on Hulu.

Chris's website transathlete.com is the go-to source for information about transgender athletes in sport. Chris has written and advocated for change in policies from the high school level to national governing bodies and professional leagues. He is one of the leading grassroots organizers against the current wave of anti-trans legislation across the United States, and when not fighting the good fight, he mentors transgender and non-binary athletes around the world in hopes that he can live by his motto of "be who you needed when you were younger."
