About this event
"What happens to a dream deferred?" Langston Hughes' famous query reflects the historical context of the Civil Rights movement, a struggle for racial justice that continues today. His question also transcends the specifics of his time and applies broadly to many facets of our lives. What dreams do we hold? What do we wish for? How do we maintain hope in the face of disappointment or tragedy? The search for happiness and fulfillment is unique to each of us and yet universal to our humanity - we all share a need for meaning, for connection, for love, for peace. With works both historic and modern, traditional and popular, the Twin Ports Choral Project offers a varied program of choral music exploring the dreams, hopes, wishes, and wants that mark our human experience.
Including selections by Henry Purcell, Gerald Finzi, Gabriel Faure, Maddalena Casulana, Tadeja Vulc, Mari Valverde, Joel Thompson, Jocelyn Hagen, Nell Cohen Shaw, Jason Robert Brown, and säje.
