All in the Planning: Sedation and Anesthesia for Challenging Patients
Presented by: Ella Pittman, DVM, DACVAA
This lecture will describe approaches to the sedation and anesthesia of patients with comorbidities that can stump anesthetists such as aggressive patients and dogs and cats with heart disease. Monitoring equipment and basic pathophysiology of the diseases will be described. The pharmacology of sedative and anesthetic drugs with a focus on why or why not those drugs might be chosen for that patient will be discussed. Lastly, example protocols for each case will be provided.
