In a time where many of us feel lonely, disconnected, disposable, or just plain awkward, and in a world that is constantly on fire, this is a contemplative and creative space for exploring how to nurture our relationships intentionally and build an enduring sense of community. Borrowing from the style of workshops, book clubs, and support groups, this is a learning space and community that can support us in cultivating a more critical and depthful awareness of how we can relate to one another.
With All About Love by bell hooks as the inspiration for this offering, we will read material from that book as well as other radical works that provide frameworks and perspectives that expand beyond traditional ideas of relationships and challenge norms – that invoke both learning and unlearning. We will also engage in emotional processing and grounding exercises, creative exercises, and practice relational skills together.
This offering will be facilitated by Sneha Rawlani (she/her), a licensed mental health counselor with 9+ years of experience. She is dedicated to decolonizing mental health care and her work is centered on the healing power of relationships.
Family of origin, platonic, and romantic relationships will be explored, structured in a 4-part series over the span of 8 weeks. Since sessions will build upon each other, participants must commit to the series in its entirety for the purpose of continuity as well as fostering a sense of community.
