Have you ever wondered how Waze knows the fastest route from Sucat to MOA, even with all the traffic? Or how your GrabFood app suggests exactly what you might be craving for dinner?

The answer is simple: data. It’s just information. And today, understanding it is like learning to read a new, secret language that is all around us.

Forget the scary, complicated image of data science. This talk is a friendly chat for anyone and everyone. We promise, no confusing terms and no boring charts. We’ll just talk, using simple stories to show you what data is, how it works, and why it matters in your daily life.

This is your chance to finally understand the buzz and see that you don't need to be a computer expert to get it.

In this INTRO virtual session, we'll talk about:

What "Using Data" Really Means: We’ll explain it simply—it’s like being a detective, looking for clues in information to solve puzzles.
The Different Jobs People Do with Data: Think of it like a kitchen team. Some people gather the ingredients (the data collectors), some cook the meal (the analysts who find the story), and some plate it beautifully so everyone can enjoy it (the storytellers).
How Messy Info Becomes a Clear Story: We'll walk you through the super simple steps of how experts turn a jumble of numbers and facts into a clear picture that helps make smart choices.
A Look at the "Tools": You won't need a toolbox for this! We’ll just mention the kinds of tools people use—some are like special calculators for finding patterns, and others are like digital crayons for drawing charts.
Data in Your Neighborhood: We’ll share fun, local examples, like how a coffee shop in BF Homes might use data to know when to stock up on ube-cheese pandesal, or how data helps manage the flow of shoppers.

Who is this talk for?

  • Anyone who is curious!
  • Students from any course trying to figure out the future.
  • Parents who want to understand the digital world their kids live in.
  • Local business owners, whether you have a small online store or a food stall.
  • Anyone who feels a little lost when they hear terms like "data" and "analytics."

Seriously, no experience needed.
