Alaska Indigenous Research Program (AKIRP): Promoting resilience, health and wellness May 10th-28th, 2021

About this Event

Applications are NOW OPEN! Deadline to apply: March 14, 2021

We are excited to announce that the 2021 AKIRP will be delivered online to continue our goal of increasing the health research capacity of researchers, health professionals, practitioners, students, Alaska Native/American Indian individuals, and communities through cross-cultural research education.

This year, AKIRP will be delivered virtually through daily 3.5-hour live sessions due to COVID-19 protocols and mandates. Each online session will feature facilitated audio-video content, presentations and conversations. There is no cost to attend.

  • W eek 1 :Advanced Research Course | May 10-24, 2021
  • Week 2 : Research Ethics Course |May 17-21, 2021
  • Week 3 : Introductory Research Course| May 24-28, 2021

Daily sessions are Monday to Friday (8:30 AM - 12:00 PM ALASKA TIME)

The option to apply for multiple weeks is available. We suggest taking weeks 1 and 2 together or weeks 2 and 3 together.

For local participants, there may be socially-distanced activities pending COVID-19 protocols and mandates. Participants will also have access to recorded sessions, reference materials, and more following the program.

Note: Registration on Eventbrite ≠ program acceptance. The planning team will review your Eventbrite applications and will provide recommendations on suitable weeks based on the applicant's experience and interests. Due to the nature of the program, we aim to keep capacity at around 50 participants per week. You may be added to a waitlist. Participant cohorts can interact through the virtual sessions, cultural activities, and networking opportunities. We encourage all participants to attend the week in full, if possible. We will provide notification of acceptance by end of March 2021.
