The European Commission published its Whitepaper on a European approach to AI regulation, which you can access here. The Commission is now organizing a public consultation on this Whitepaper, seeking feedback from interested stakeholders.

With the AI4Belgium community, we would like to engage in this open consultation, to ensure that its implications are well understood by all members, and that the interest of the Belgian AI eco-system is considered within the European strategy.

How?

AI4Belgium will organize a workshop on the Whitepaper, which will consist of two parts.

During the first part of the workshop, an explanation will be given on the contents of the Whitepaper by Bjoern Juretzki, Assistant to the Director-General of DG Connect of the European Commission, and we will make a reflection on what this will mean for the Belgian AI ecosystem.

During the second part of the workshop, we will get more practical and start constructing our own feedback on the proposals made in the Whitepaper, which we will submit to the Commission during the public consultation (similarly to the collective feedback we provided on the Ethics Guidelines for Trustworthy AI drafted by the Commission’s High-Level Expert Group on AI).
