About guest speakers:
Kian Katanforoosh is the founder & CEO of Workera and a lecturer in the Computer Science department at Stanford University. Workera allows data scientists, machine learning engineers, and software engineers to assess their skills against industry standards and receive a personalized learning path. Kian is also the recipient of Stanford’s Walter J. Gores award (Stanford’s highest teaching award) and Centennial Award for Excellence in teaching.
Fernando Lucini is the Global Lead for Data Science and Machine Learning Engineering for Accenture Applied Intelligence . Based in London, Fernando is a passionate and experienced senior leader with extensive experience in Artificial Intelligence software and business solutions. He has spent 20+ years in the enterprise software industry creating technologies to automate and understand text, speech and video data. He focuses on integrating these technologies into business solutions for Fortune 100 companies in the areas of financial Services, high tech, pharma, and others. He also has led work for government, defence, regulation and other public sector entities.
Amirali Kia finished his Bachelor’s and Master’s working on the application of various artificial intelligence algorithms in computational fluid mechanics. He then started his PhD at Stanford University where he focused on high performance computing techniques and their applications in computational biology. He joined Illumina more than 9 years ago in the Protein Engineering group to utilize machine learning algorithms in protein engineering. He is now the director of Core AI team at Illumina, utilizing AI algorithms to improve Illumina’s core technologies.
Valerie Alleger is the EMEA Director, Data and Analytics Strategy at Janssen (Pharmaceutical Companies of J&J), based in Switzerland. In her role, she’s responsible for shaping and executing, with her team, the EMEA commercial data and analytics strategy to deliver best-in-class advanced analytics solutions for the Janssen EMEA Therapeutical Areas, aiming to improve customer engagement, to support brand performance and to optimize patient experience, across a various range of brands and countries.
Before that, Valerie was a Global Advanced Analytics Lead, Analytics Translator and Strategic Advisor at Bayer Pharmaceuticals. She then pioneered and developed analytics solutions using various machine learning techniques.
Valerie has a strong commercial background; she previously held sales and marketing roles in France in addition to BI responsibilities with traditional Insights and Analytics, from Market Analysis to Sales Force Effectiveness. Valerie was also part of the Bayer Corporate Data Science team in Germany as a Senior Data Scientist for 2.5 years.
Valerie is currently the European Lead for the non-profit organization PMSA (Pharmaceutical Management Science Association), promoting insights and analytics, sharing knowledge and building an expert network in the pharmaceutical industry.
Valerie holds an Engineer degree and MSc in Biology and Life Sciences from AgroParisTech, France.
