AI Spotlight: Image Accessibility Generator + Build a Syllabus Assistant

In this AI Spotlight session, the Technology Innovations Learning Team (TILT) at EdPlus will share their journey developing the Image Accessibility Generator, a tool that reduces the time and effort needed to write high quality alt text, improving accessibility and demonstrating how AI can address real world challenges and scale impact for learners.

Following the showcase, participants will move from inspiration to action by exploring the CreateAI platform in a hands-on activity where faculty and staff will build their own Syllabot, an interactive assistant that answers student questions directly from a course syllabus. This exercise demonstrates how anyone can quickly transform course documents into practical, interactive AI tools.

This workshop will help attendees:

  • Identify at least one real-world challenge addressed by the Technology Innovations Learning Team (TILT) at EdPlus and explain how AI was used to solve it.
  • Upload and configure a syllabus in CreateAI as the knowledge base for a syllabus assistant using the Syllabot template.
  • Test and refine a customized syllabus assistant to ensure it accurately answers common student questions.

Presenters:

  • Dee-Dee Collins-Jones, AI Emerging Specialist, LX Design, Enterprise Technology
  • Michael Arseneault, Manager, TILT, EdPlus
  • Wes Fleming, AI Digital Solutions Lead, TILT, EdPlus
