Description

Panel Discussion
With Robin Hanson, Professor of economics at George Mason University and a research associate at the Future of Humanity Institute of Oxford University.
And Max Daniel, Executive Director of the Foundational Research Institute.
From medical diagnostics to beating the world’s Go
champion; in recent years Artificial Intelligence (AI)
systems have outperformed human intellect in many –
but still narrow – domains. Will we create intelligence
that outperforms us along every dimension in the future?
Various paths to such Superintelligence have been conceived,
including self-improving AI and emulated minds.
Max Daniel argues that this would likely be the end of
our species. Robin Hanson, in turn, believes that superintelligence
would shower the world with unprecedented
productivity and wealth. If we are capable of creating
a superintelligence some day, should we do it? Join our
panel and find out!
