About this event

Agroforestry Field Day at Raising Cane Ranch

Curious about how agroforestry can transform your land and boost productivity? Join Agroforestry Northwest at Raising Cane Ranch on September 19 from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM for a "choose your own adventure" field day!

We'll have six interactive agroforestry stations with four rotations throughout the day. Pick the topics that interest you most and dive deep into:

  • U-pick apples and hazelnuts: Experience the bounty of integrated fruit and nut production.
  • Cider and Bigleaf maple syrup tasting: Savor delicious agroforestry products and watch informative PNW agroforestry videos.
  • Alley-cropping: Discover how to grow crops between rows of trees for enhanced yields and benefits.
  • Riparian forest buffers: Learn about the vital role of trees along waterways for water quality and wildlife.
  • Forest farming: Explore cultivating crops within a forest environment.
  • Indigenous Agroforestry: Discover historical uses of the land, practices developed and honed through generations and learn about biocultural restoration.

This is your chance to explore real-world examples of agroforestry in action, discover innovative ways to integrate trees and shrubs into agricultural landscapes, and meet the Agroforestry Northwest Board. Whether you're a farmer, forester, or work in resilient land management, it's a fantastic opportunity to connect with the region's experts in agroforestry.

Stay for the Arts Event!

The day doesn't end there! From 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM, stick around for our special Arts event featuring music, food, local art, and hard cider. It's the perfect way to unwind and connect with others passionate about sustainable land use through the arts.
