Mark Kelly, Chief Inspector of Prisons is pleased to invite you to attend our webinar on Ageing in Prison: Understanding the Challenges and Respecting Rights.
The webinar will take place on Tuesday 14 October 2025 from 2.45pm to 4.00 pm (Irish time).
The theme of the webinar is ageing in prison. This is set against the background of an increasingly ageing prisoner population in Ireland and plans by the Irish Prison Service to improve palliative care and facilities. The Webinar will explore the implications of key human rights standards on ageing in the prison context and the role of prison staff in providing care and supporting prisoner healthcare rights.
The Webinar will be opened by the Chief Inspector of Prisons Mr Mark Kelly. Other contributors to the Webinar include; Dr Brie Williams of the University of California San Francisco, Dr. Marie Brasholt of DIGNITY and the UN Subcommittee for the Prevention Against Torture (SPT), Director Áine Flynn of the newly established Decision Support Service and Dr Emma Regan, Director of Care and Rehabilitation at the Irish Prison Service
