About this event

Other

Join us to explore the compelling work of two unique artistic voices at this special exhibit, Aftertime, featuring the work of Gordana Geršković and Deb Furey. Through contrasting yet complementary approaches, both artists explore themes of identity, emotion, and the natural world.

Gordana’s photography magnifies textures of various surfaces that reveal bold colors working together to evoke a sense of raw urban energy and emotional unpredictability. Her work captures the chaotic beauty often found in overlooked corners of life. Gordana’s work invites viewers to identify whether they are looking at a weathered wall, rusting vehicle, or industrial surface. Gordana’s photographs celebrate the poetry of weathered surfaces and the whimsical stories they whisper to those willing to listen.

Deb Furey's expressive works use bold gestures, fractured forms, and a potent mix of abstraction and figuration to explore the themes of identity, connection, and performance. The figures, adorned in elaborate costume-like garments, seem suspended between roles—king, clown, and muse—with each figure’s composition divided into symbolic segments that add to the storytelling complexity, blending the human, animal, and mythical into a singular vision. Whether the viewer is observing her extremely detailed black and white charcoal drawings or explosive colors and dynamic brushwork paintings, the fluid shapes distort conventional human anatomy, underscoring the emotional surrealism. Deb’s work exemplifies her ability to merge the theatrical with the psychological, inviting the viewer to consider the many masks we wear – and the truths they might conceal.

Together, their work creates a dynamic visual conversation—inviting reflection, curiosity, and connection.
