Orientation: Wednesday, January 7, 5:00-6:00 PM

Encounter the wonders of space through the innovations that have propelled humans beyond our planet. From daring missions to distant worlds to the technology shaping space exploration, students will engage the challenges and possibilities of venturing into the cosmos. Along the way, they’ll use creativity and problem-solving to envision the future of space travel. Finally, students will make their ideas a reality by designing a unique showcase that explores what it takes to survive and thrive beyond Earth!

Some of the Guided Activities:

• Learn coding basics and create their own program
• Launch straw and balloon rockets while exploring flight variables
• Design a safe landing device for astronauts
• Learn how to observe the cosmos from their backyard with telescopes
• Explore distant planets on a planetarium visit

This program is for students enrolled in the 4th and 5th grades in Spring 2026. There is no cost for participation in this program. Tuition is fully underwritten by Van Andel Institute.
