Join buildingcommunityWORKSHOP for a presentation and panel discussion on turning underutilized DART owned surface parking lots around rail stations into equitable transit oriented development with affordable housing integrated into the development. The presentation will be on a report that [bc] is releasing on the concept and opportunity in Dallas to use this as part of a solution to building affordable housing in highly desirable areas.
The panelist will discuss both the report and the concept in general. It will be moderated by Brandon Formby, of the Texas Tribune, and panelists will include:
Jack Wierzenski, Director of Economic Development, DART
Peer Chacko, Director of Planning and Urban Design, City of Dallas
Professor Shima Hamidi, Director of the Institute of Urban Studies, University of Texas at Arlington
Paris Rutherford, Principal Catalyst Development
The event will begin with a reception at 6:00 pm, followed by a short presentation on the report will begin at 6:30, and then a panel discussion at 6:45 running until approximately 7:30.
