Envelope Design Principles

Join Energy Trust on August 25 for a deep dive into envelope design. Envelope design is a key component of a building’s energy performance. A tighter and better insulated building can allow project teams to design smaller, more efficient and less redundant HVAC systems. It also leads to lower energy consumption and construction costs. Led by expert envelope consultants, this course aims to provide architects and engineers with important knowledge necessary to lay the foundation for better envelopes while at the same time avoiding common pitfalls.

Professionals taking this training are eligible for 3 AIA LU/HSW continuing education credits.

Course Objectives:

Understand the importance of air tightness, thermal bridging, insulation strategies and materials selection in the building’s energy performance
Identify biggest mistakes and challenges in envelope design
Summarize the relationship between water and air barriers
Visualize real-world examples where envelopes succeeded and/or failed to address the building's performance
