Advocating for Students with Dyslexia - Creating Change in Your Community

Description: Decoding Dyslexia Georgia (DDGA) is part of a network of parents and educators concerned with the limited access to educational interventions for dyslexia within the public education system. DDGA played a powerful role in the passing of Georgia's SB48, the Dyslexia bill. Now the state of Georgia is beginning efforts to implement the new law, including creating new procedures for dyslexia identification and support.

Tina Engberg, State Leader of Decoding Dyslexia Georgia, will share her experience being a part of the legislative movement and will discuss how you and others can be a part of guiding this next phase of implementation. Community involvement will help to ensure effective processes are in place that improve outcomes for our dyslexic students.

Presenter: Tina Engberg, State Leader of Decoding Dyslexia Georgia is an Atlanta native and proud mother of a profoundly Dyslexic son. She and her family live in Marietta, GA.

Outreach events such as this provide opportunities for individuals to connect in person with parents, educators, and others interested in learning and engaging in discussions about dyslexia and related topics. Outreach events are free and open to the public. A suggested $3 donation for this event in Gwinnett would be appreciated to help us cover the venue fee.
