Advanced Skills for Peer Excellence & Trainer Training Series
Overview
Join us in Zoom at this link to build your gambling and gaming peer services skills. No fee. You do not need to register for each session if you are intending to take the full series. Our focus will be on learning more about and practicing Problem Gambling Peer Competencies.
Classes meet Wednesday nights, from 5:30 PM - 6:45 PST:
October 8th: Relationship development, consent, engagement, and language
October 15th: Values and change processes
October 22nd: Fianances - restitution, budgeting and barrriers
October 29th: Suicidality, desperation, and mandatory reporting
November 5th: It takes a village - including others in the journey
November 12th: Ethics and scenario role-playing
November 19th: Self care for peers - it's not just meditating
November 26th: Summary - what have we learned
For Oregon Peers: Continuing Education Units (CEU's) approved by the Mental Health and Addiction Certificdation Board of Oregon. These 10 hours of classes are ideal if you are already a Certified Gambling Recovery Mentor (CGRM) in the state of Oregon, or another kind of peer mentor who works with peers affected by gambling harm.
For International Peers: Taught by Board Approved Recovery Advisors (BARA's), who are certified by the International Problem Gambling and Gaming Certification Organization (IPGGC). If you have completed a 30-hour IPGGC approved peer training, please contact us at info@vpgr.net to arrange for individualized BARA supervision, which this course supports.
