Advanced Musical Improv: Song Styles and Genres
Overview
In this seven week class, students will learn to improvise songs in a variety of genres embracing the structure, melody, and themes of each style, and in a variety of song structures, including tagline songs, fugues, and metaphor songs. Students will learn to initiate and communicate song style choices effectively to scene partners and to adapt to different styles and structures. The class will culminate in improvising a non-narrative format that allows students to focus on singing in different styles. This class includes a student showcase. The prerequisite for this class is Musical Improv Level Three at Stomping Ground Comedy Theater or graduation from an equivalent musical improv program at a recognized training center with written permission from the Training Center Director.

- Country and Western
- Rock and other Modern Genres
- Tagline Songs and Fugues
- Perspective Songs
- Metaphor Songs
This seven week meets on Mondays from 7-9:30pm starting January 5th. The instructors are Kelsey Eigsti and Josh Diamond. All sales are final. Classes are non-refundable but enrollment can be deferred to a future class. All students must adhere to policies in the Stomping Ground Student Handbook. Must be 18 years or older. Final price includes Eventbrite fees.
