Event description
Building on skills from the Introduction to Motivational Interviewing course for Behavioral Health Clinicians in King County Washington

About this Event

MI is primarily a way to talk with people about change however this description is deceptively simple. MI was originally developed in the late 80's as a tool to help clients engage in substance abuse treatment. It has now grown to offer an evidenced based way to improve our working relationships with clients, enhance treatment efficacy, and reduce stress we can feel as clinicians. The introductory MI training is a prerequisite for this advance training which will dive deeper into the nuanced ways you can use MI. This training will utilize a wide variety of teaching methods in order to reach out to all learning styles and be highly personalized. The use of experiential exercises (e.g. real play demonstrations offered by the trainer, small group practice, etc..) during the training will have participants walk away knowing how to incorporate the skills into their practice immediately. This training is intended for individuals who have completed an introductory MI course.

This training is funded by King County MIDD, a local behavioral health sales tax.
