Advanced HazMat Technologies Workshop, Southwestern Utah
Overview
Get Ready for the Advanced HazMat Technologies Workshop!
This one-day intensive workshop provides a deep dive into the detection and identification of chemical, biological, and radiological threats using the “Trinity” of field-deployable analytical technologies: Standoff Raman Spectroscopy, Flame Photometry, and High-Resolution Radioisotope Detection/Identification.
Participants will move beyond simple "red light/green light" operation to understand the science, strengths, and limitations of each technology. The course focuses specifically on the detection and identification of Chemical Warfare Agents, Pharmaceutical-Based Agents, Toxic Industrial Chemicals/Materials (TICs/TIMs) and Radioactive Materials.
Topics:
Luke Sloan: Detection of CWAs, PBAs, TICs and TIMs using flame photometry
Alicia Kimsey: Standoff Raman for First Responders, Safe Triage of Unknown Chemicals
Trent North: Rad-101, detection and isotope identification technologies
