Event Date: January 10, 2026 at 8:00 AM (Eastern Time)
Adopt-a-Dune event invites volunteers to plant salt-tolerant vegetation, such as
sea oats and other diverse native plants, in a prominent area within
Mizell/Johnson State Park. This initiative aims to provide both immediate and
long-term benefits for the dune system, enhancing its structure and sustaining its
ecological value.
Adopt-a-Dune, in collaboration with the South Florida Audubon Society, will
implement a comprehensive approach to ensure project success. Volunteers will
receive an educational component designed to raise awareness about coastal
ecosystems, their vulnerabilities, and the essential role dunes play.
