Add+Vantage Fractions Course
Overview
Add+Vantage (formerly AVMR) Fractions Course equips educators with a deep under-erstanding of fraction concepts and progressions. Fractions represent a critical bridge between whole number understanding and higher-level mathematics such as ratios, proportions, and algebra. The course emphasizes practical strategies to help educators design responsive instruction that supports student growth
AVMR Fractions is a 3-month long virtual course of independent, self- paced learning activities alongside a series of 8 collegial team meetings. Participants can expect approx. 60-120 additional minutes each week of self-paced online learning modules, course reading, and time to implement assessments and instructional activities with students.
Key Outcomes:
Participants will:
- Strengthen knowledge of learning progressions in fractions to understand how s s students develop reasoning with part-whole relationships, equivalence, and operations.
- Administer and analyze diagnostic assessments to identify student understanding and misconceptions.• Administer and analyze diagnostic
- Use student evidence and data to guide responsive instruction that advancesconceptual understanding.
- Engage in collaborative professional discussions to analyze student strategies and share effective instructional practices. Implement targeted instructional activities that promote flexible problem-solving and deepen student confidence with fractions.
