About this event
More than 80% of terrestrial ecosystems have been modified to some degree by human activities, resulting in the loss of natural ecosystems and an increasingly warmer planet through global environmental change processes. As the global population approaches eight billion, the negative impacts of these processes have proven a threat to the survival and functioning of ecological and social systems, underscoring the urgency to monitor global environmental change and to implement mitigation and adaptation strategies to its impacts.
In this seminar, Dr. Machado shows how a geospatial approach can be used to monitor and address the impacts of global environmental change through her research on spatial vulnerability analysis, program evaluation of environmental benefits, and spatio-temporal analysis of environmental change.
This event is free and open to all.
