As 2021 kicks off, and with an inauguration around the corner, authors will read from their nonfiction work about fresh starts. Discussion and Q&A to follow. The $10 cover, and donations will support KGB during this pandemic shut-down.
ADA CALHOUN is the author of the memoir Wedding Toasts I’ll Never Give, the New York City history St. Marks Is Dead, and the NYT bestseller Why We Can't Sleep, out this month in paperback.
LAURIE GWEN SHAPIRO's writing has appeared in The New Yorker, New York, The Daily Beast, Lapham’s Quarterly, and Slate. The Stowaway was her best selling first full-length work of nonfiction, and was an Indie next selection. She has also won an Independent Spirit Award as a documentary director. Her next nonfiction book will be Amelia and George, about Amelia Earhart's marriage.
DARCEY STEINKE is the author of Flash Count Diary: A New Story About Menopause. She has also written a memoir Easter Everywhere and five novels: Sister Golden Hair, Milk, Jesus Saves, Suicide Blonde, and Up Through the Water. She has taught at the New School, Columbia University School of the Arts, New York University, Princeton, and the American University of Paris. She lives with her husband in Brooklyn.
ELIZABETH MITCHELL has authored nonfiction books, covering politics, sports and history, including her most recent, Lincoln's Lie: A True Civil War Caper Through Fake News, Wall Street and the White House. Her novella-length work, The Fearless Mrs. Goodwin was a New York Times and Amazon nonfiction best-seller. She has worked as an investigative reporter, features writer and magazine editor.
