Have you ever wondered what you would do if you became involved in an active shooter situation? Do you want to learn about simple ways to protect yourself or your family if you find that a violent event is occuring right in front you? If so, then you are welcome to attend this lecture style course offered by the Tucson Police Department. The presentation will discuss preparedness strategies, potential warning signs and actual methods to consider if you are confronted with an active shooter. Included in the lecture will be discussion on the likelihood of being involved in this type of event, some looks back at past tragedies and some lessons learned from analyzing those events.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

No one under the age of 16 is permitted entry. There are a few semi graphic images however, we believe that a parent or guardian is best suited to discussing active shooter events with their younger children.

We will not ask for identification upon entry, just the event ticket.

We ask for the participants name, email address and a contact phone number upon registration simply to track the number of participants so we are in compliance with occupancy restrictions. This also allows us a way to contact participants in the event of a last minute class cancellation. We do not save this information after the event.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the even

The West Side Service Center auditorium has ample, free parking located in front of the venue. The public parking lot is accesible from Miracle Mile only. Miracle Mile is very busy during rush hour, so please give yourself plenty of time to arrive and park so that we may start the event on time.

If travelling to the venue from Interstate 10, take the Miracle Mile (AZ 77) Exit 255. Proceed west through the traffic signal at Flowing Wells and prepare to turn left into the parking area.

If travelling from other areas of Tucson, the property is located on the Northeast corner of Flowing Wells and Miracle Mile, with parking accessible from Miracle Mile only.

What can I bring into the event?

Pursuant to A.R.S. Sec. 13-3102, No weapons, including Knives, whether concealed or in plain view are permitted in this building, unless in the possession of a law enforcement officer. There are no firearm storage lockers at this location.

The facility is a non-smoking facility, and has public, handicapped accessible restrooms available for the event.

If you require an accommodation or materials in accessible format for this event, please call Sgt. Denzler, 520-837-7946 at least five business days in advance so arrangements can be prepared.

Please note that due to proprietary information contained within the program content, we are not able to duplicate the presentation either on paper or electronically for any individual, however, references and sources can be provided.

Do not bring: recording devices, cameras, food, drinks without lids, tobacco products (including electronic cigarette style devices) or animals that are not service animals.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Please bring your printed ticket to the event, again, only to comply with occupancy requirements for this venue. At this time, we do not have the ability to accept "mobile" tickets.

We do not accept "walk-in" participants.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes, the event ticket sales will end the day of the event at 11:30 a.m. MST, so be sure to modify your information/order prior. All cancellations should be completed via the Eventbrite website.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

This course is provided at no charge and is open to the public. The ticket is not transferrable. If you cannot attend, please cancel your registration as soon as possible to free up space for others that may want to attend.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

It is preferable to have the ticket match the attendee, however, exceptions will be handled case by case by the instructor for the course.
