We know that why action on resilience and adaption is essential and urgent. What we need now is to translate this awareness and attention into accelerated action, and identify the best pathways to achieve this change.

Purpose and Objectives:

The purpose of the roundtable is on how to accelerate action and investment into transformative change so that those most affected by climate change, especially people living in LDCs and SIDS, are able to thrive and live prosperous lives in the face of climate change. It will consider on how to translate global commitments to national action, including mainstreaming resilience into national development plans including NAPs and NDCs. This roundtable will build on previous resilience events at COP24 and COP25, Development and Climate Days, Global Climate Action Summit, UNCAS and Building a Resilient Future Day. It has three objectives:

To identify how the resilience and adaptation actions (including UNCAS initiatives and those of national governments) can be accelerated to deliver transformative change at scale.
To share examples on how non-state actors (especially private sector and grassroots organisations) are already accelerating action (focusing on LDCs and SIDS). These are expected to be within and across the sectors: food and agriculture; water; infrastructure; cities; energy and transport.
To discuss how to track and learn from actions to build a resilient future , including how best initiatives such as MPGCA can help to achieve resilience targets at future COPs, and through fora including Development and Climate Days and Community Based Adaptation conferences.

Across all of these objectives how to engage marginalised groups including women, youth and people living with disabilities thereby achieve inclusion and equitable outcomes.

This Round Table is being run as part of the Marakesh Partnership for Global Climate Action agenda under UNFCCC. It will take place at the main COP 25 premises (Feria de Madrid) in the green zone. The room is San Pedro de Atacama locaed in Hall 4 (very central after registration).
