About this event

Arts • Painting

Artist Philip Frey and art critic Carl Little will present a lively slide talk about abstraction in Maine landscape painting. Frey will discuss how he approaches and uses abstraction in his own work as well as what inspiration he draws from. Little will explore how other Maine connected artists, historical and contemporary, use abstraction in their landscape painting. There will be time for audience Q & A. Frey and Little have known each other for decades, first meeting after Carl wrote a review of Philip’s work in the Maine Times in 1994. So, it should make for an insightful, vibrant, and familiar discussion.

Please join us for a reception in the gallery after the talk, with light refreshments and for a chance to view "Perceptions," our first juried abstract show.

Friday, October 10, 2025 @ 5:30 PM. Doors open at 5:00 PM.
