This course will examine what staff need to know to facilitate civil dialogue across the curriculum and engage multiple stakeholders, including parents and community stakeholders, in dialogue to address school and community concerns.
Participants will be able to understand how to create conditions and norms for civil dialogue with research based pedagogy and practices. Participants will analyze and practice multiple strategies to facilitate discussions both in and out of the classroom to promote civility and social responsibility. Participants will engage with several protocols to engage participant voice in asking questions to guide classroom inquiry and discussion, as well as engage community voice in school based decision making. Participants will create a plan to disseminate learning to provide appropriate support and resources to parents, staff, and students to differentiate and support student success.
