About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

Get happy in this java-packed workshop where we get loose and go abstract to paint fun coffee cups.

In this workshop, you'll learn:

Explore techniques and creative processes to expand your imaginative approach to art, and play with acrylics, drawing materials, and more to create a 12x12 painting of your favorite coffee cup.

We will look at the value of quirky imperfections and go over methods to stay loose and care-free. The instructor will be providing photo references and show students how to abstract from life.

We will do all of this together using vibrant color and loose gestures—seeking the magic that comes when we allow ourself to be free of self judgment and comparison, and being open to happy accidents. Smack-dab in the middle of flow and possibility!

Supply List:

  • (1) 12x12 canvas or panel
  • black acrylic paint
  • 3-4 fluid acrylic colors that are translucent and not too dark in appearance like: Quinacridone Magenta, Pyrrole Orange, Nickel Azo Yellow, Transparent Oxides, Green Gold, etc...warmer colors work best but blue and green is welcome, too!
